About the event
Join us for a high-impact, hands-on training experience with Andy Starnes and the Insight Fire Training team. In partnership with HEN Nozzles, this one-day Engine Crew Clinic combines expert classroom instruction, live fire demonstrations, and practical fireground applications to help firefighters better understand modern fire behavior, thermal imaging, and effective water application.
Designed for firefighters, company officers, and training officers, this immersive training bridges the gap between classroom concepts and real-world performance. Through live demonstrations and burn building evolutions, attendees will gain practical insight into stream placement, thermal imaging, fire behavior, and coordinated engine company operations.
What to expect:
8:00 to 10:30 AM Classroom instruction led by Insight Fire Training instructors and HEN Nozzles, covering modern fire behavior, thermal imaging, and tactical decision-making.
10:30 to 11:30 AM Hands-on demonstrations focused on nozzle control, stream placement, and water application before transitioning to flowing water demonstrations in the burn building.
11:30 AM to 12:30 PM: Lunch provided on-site.
1:00 to 3:00 PM: Live-burn building fire-attack simulations demonstrating how stream placement influences heat movement, smoke conditions, and interior fire attack.
3:30 to 5:00 PM: Thermal rebound live fire demonstration where attendees observe, from the exterior, how water application impacts fire behavior and thermal conditions inside the structure.
Throughout the day, participants will experience practical, real-world demonstrations that reinforce modern engine company tactics and improve fireground decision-making. Every session is designed to provide actionable knowledge and techniques that can be immediately applied back at your department.
Students must provide their own PPE for hands-on activities. SCBAs are not required for attendees. All participants must complete the event waiver during registration.
If you're committed to preparing for today's fireground, improving fireground decision-making, and developing more capable engine companies, this clinic is built for you.
Registration is required and closes 72 hours prior to the event. Walk-ins will not be accepted. Space is limited, and events often reach capacity, so reserve your spot early. For registration questions, please contact Alex Cummings at alex.cummings@hennozzles.com.
